Dr. Marcell Kereszty was born in 1969 in Budapest, Hungary. He studied electrical engineering in Budapest, Hungary and Vienna, Austria and graduated from the Technical University of Budapest in 1992 with a M.Sc.Elec.Eng. degree. In 1997 he received his second degree in economics from the University of Economics, Budapest. He started his career in the field of industrial property with this firm in 1996. In 1998 he received his postgraduate diploma in industrial property law. He passed his patent attorney examination with distinction in 1999 and became a partner in the firm as of 1 January 2002. In 2005 he received his summa cum laude Doctor of Law degree from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. Dr. Kereszty has considerable expertise in the fields of prosecution and disputes of computer-related inventions, trademarks, designs and copyright.
Dr. Kereszty is a member of the AIPPI, ECTA, FICPI, the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright and the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright. He is a member of the Hungarian Copyright Law Expert Board and of the Hungarian Industrial Property Expert Board appointed by the Minister of Justice, in the latter he is a member of the Presidency. He is the President of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys since 2019, and a member of Presidency of the Hungarian Trademark Association.
Dr. Kereszty obtained the Jedlik Ányos Award in 2012 (a ministry award recognizing outstanding efficiency in protection of industrial property), and the Somlai Tibor Award in 2016 (award of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys). He has been the President of the Hungarian Group of AIPPI since 2014. In 2015, 2018 and 2021 the President of the European Patent Office appointed Dr. Kereszty ad personam as a member of the Standing Advisory Committee before the EPO (SACEPO)
